The Forty Year Domesday Boke Project
Contents

Contents of Your Branch's Section of the Boke

Each Shire will be given 8 pages; each Barony or Principality will be given 16.

The first page that you will be expected to do will be of your branch name and heraldic achievement with the blazon of the device. Right now we are concentrating on the civic heraldry - branch members should reach a consensus of what the group will use.

The second page is to be a map of your branch area.

After those two pages you may then use the remaining pages to do a census: a compilation of what makes you a branch. See the 20 Year Doomsday book for ideas or contact Kingdom Scribe Dame Tamlyn.

Heraldry:

Simple Branch Arms

Black Lion Herald recently ruled that Branch Armory shall follow the "French/German" model, meaning unrestricted. This allows for all branches to display a "Full Achievement". The display may include the Branch's "Registered Device" on a "Shield" with a "Crest" atop a "Helm" and a "Torse with Mantling of the main tinctures of the device", "Supporters" on their "Compartment" and a "Motto".

Province, Shire, Canton, Stronghold and College

All branches are entitled to display a "German-style Mural Crown". The mural crown looks like a masoned wall with towers. It is found in many displays of civic heraldry across Europe in period. The German style uses towers, while the English style is frequently drawn similar to an embattled masoned coronet. Due to the possible confusion between the English Style and the SCA-standard Count' s embattled coronet, the German style is preferred for use in Branch armory. Use of such a crown marks the display as being that of a branch.

Barony

Baronies are entitled and encouraged to display a "Baronial Coronet" consisting of a band surmounted by six pearls in place of the mural crown, or instead they may display the "Coronets of the Barony".

Principality

It is customary in the Kingdom of AnTir for the Royal achievement to use the Kingdom Crown in place of a mural crown, and it is encouraged that this practice continue and be adopted and implemented by Principalities of AnTir.

Kingdom

It is customary in the Kingdom of AnTir for the Royal achievement to use the Kingdom Crown in place of a mural crown.
